Drishyam 3 Box Office Collection Day 13: Ajay Devgn’s Thriller Crosses ₹500 Crore Worldwide, Jaideep Ahlawat’s Character Adds a New Twist
Drishyam 3: The Conclusion is turning into one of Ajay Devgn’s biggest box-office successes. Released in cinemas on October 2, the crime thriller has crossed the ₹500 crore worldwide mark, while its story brings Vijay Salgaonkar back into a dangerous battle involving old secrets, a determined investigator and the Deshmukh family’s unresolved pain.
The third instalment reunites Ajay Devgn and Tabu, while Jaideep Ahlawat enters the franchise as a new threat. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film is also being positioned as the final chapter of the Hindi Drishyam story.
Drishyam 3 Box Office Collection Day 13
According to Sacnilk’s live box-office tracking, Drishyam 3 had collected approximately ₹323.50 crore net in India by Day 12, with its worldwide gross reaching ₹501.80 crore. These are trade estimates and may change as final figures are updated.
The film opened strongly with an estimated ₹62 crore net on its first day. It collected ₹53.50 crore on Saturday and ₹61 crore on Sunday, taking its opening weekend to ₹176.50 crore. After the first week, the India net total stood at approximately ₹245.50 crore.
Its second weekend also delivered a strong performance, with Saturday and Sunday collections estimated at ₹26.50 crore and ₹22.50 crore respectively. The numbers helped the film cross the ₹500 crore worldwide milestone in less than two weeks.
The success is particularly significant for Ajay Devgn, as the film has overtaken Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior to become the highest-grossing film of his career, according to recent trade reports.
Jaideep Ahlawat Is Not Simply the Villain
One of the biggest talking points surrounding Drishyam 3 is Jaideep Ahlawat’s character, SP Rajveer Singh Tomar. The Crime Branch officer is determined to uncover the truth behind Vijay Salgaonkar’s carefully protected secrets.
However, writer Aamil Keeyan Khan has pushed back against the idea that Rajveer should simply be labelled a villain.
In an interview reported by The Times of India, Khan explained that the character is a police officer trying to catch a criminal. He also pointed out that audiences have become emotionally attached to Vijay, but that does not automatically make Vijay morally blameless.

That distinction is central to the franchise. Vijay may be the character audiences root for, but the story repeatedly asks whether protecting one’s family can justify crossing the line. Rajveer’s arrival creates a fresh conflict because Vijay is no longer facing only familiar opponents; he must deal with a new officer determined to challenge his version of events.
The Twist That Took the Writers Time to Crack
Director Abhishek Pathak has revealed that the team spent considerable time working on a major twist for the third film. Rather than simply repeating the formula of the earlier instalments, the writers wanted to surprise viewers who have spent years analysing Vijay’s plans and predicting the franchise’s next move.
Pathak has also explained that Tabu’s Meera Deshmukh remains central to the story. Her search for closure and revenge continues to shape the conflict between the two families.
Speaking about Meera’s journey, Pathak said: “She tried to go by the book in part one and even two, but now she wants to go a different way.”
The statement hints at a significant change in how Meera approaches the case. Instead of relying solely on the methods she used previously, her character is prepared to take a different route in pursuit of justice.
The director has deliberately avoided revealing the full climax, including the mystery surrounding the skeleton and Vijay’s connection with Sister Pereira and Goa’s Christian community. Those details remain among the film’s most important spoiler-sensitive elements.
Inspector Gaitonde Returns With an Unexpected Moment
Fans of the earlier films will also recognise Kamlesh Sawant as Inspector Gaitonde. The character returns to the Hindi franchise, bringing back a familiar face from Vijay’s past.
Pathak has described Gaitonde as a character audiences both dislike and love. His humour often comes from the way he behaves rather than from conventional punchlines.
One reported moment sees Gaitonde singing “Koi Mil Gaya” when he catches Vijay in a compromising situation. The song, originally associated with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, adds an unexpected meta reference to a franchise built around deception, memory and cinema itself.
Gaitonde’s return also connects the third film to the original 2015 instalment, reminding viewers how long Vijay’s carefully constructed story has been unfolding.
The Dialogue That Defines Vijay Salgaonkar
The film’s promotional campaign has continued to emphasise Vijay’s central motivation: his family comes before everything else.
The official title announcement carried the line:
“MERA SACH, MERA SAHI, SIRF MERI, FAMILY HAI.”
The statement captures the moral conflict that has followed Vijay throughout the series. For him, the truth is not simply a matter of evidence or law; it is tied to what he believes he must do to protect his family.
That idea is also why audiences remain divided over the characters. Vijay’s actions can appear justified from his family’s perspective, while the investigators see a man who has repeatedly obstructed the truth.
The film’s central question is therefore not just whether Vijay can outsmart the police again. It is whether his version of justice can survive when the people pursuing him have changed their approach.
Tabu, Ajay Devgn and Jaideep Ahlawat Lead the Final Chapter
Alongside Ajay Devgn and Tabu, the film features Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat. Abhishek Pathak has directed the film, continuing his work on the Hindi franchise after Drishyam 2.
Pathak has said the story was developed independently rather than copied from the Malayalam version. He also explained that the Hindi film needed a new threat for Vijay while keeping Meera actively involved in the conflict.
The director has described the ending as a fitting conclusion to the franchise and said there are currently no plans for a fourth Hindi instalment. Although Ajay Devgn’s “for now” comment has encouraged fan speculation, Pathak has maintained that the story has reached its intended endpoint.
